Today, the Council on State Support to NGOs under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a reporting conference devoted to the results of its activities in 2018. The Executive Director of the Secretariat, Farasat Gurbanov, made a presentation in detail on the past year's activity of the organization.
The executive director said that the Council hosted a number of important events in 2018. A scientific-practical conference on the topic of "Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan's Development Concept" dedicated to the 95th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held with support of the Council on May 7, 2018. A scientific-practical conference titled "The first democratic republic in the Muslim East" on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was held on May 23, 2018. A conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1918 was organized on March 29, 2018.
The jubilee ceremony was held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Council on June 22, 2018. A conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of liberating Baku from occupation on September 15, 1918 was held on September 13, 2018.
More than 600 NGO activities have been covered in 12 issues of the "Civil Society" magazine in 2018. 45,000 news has been published on the Qhtxeber.az portal during a year.
Farasat Gurbanov said that the council financed 576 projects of NGOs last year. 2067 people were involved in the implementation of these projects, of which 661 were permanent and 1406 were temporary workers. Totally 88903 people participated in the events held within the projects. 491 trainings and 1585 different events were held with support of the Council in 2018. 34 books, 36 brochures, 213 booklets, 212 other print materials (posters, calendars, etc.) were prepared. In addition, 107 television programs, 20 social videos, 34 films were prepared and 11 sites were created.
The opening ceremony of the memorial plaque dedicated to the victims of Khojaly genocide was held at the Dobrava Memorial Park Complex in the Slovenian town of Maribor, with the participation of the chairman of the Council Azay Guliyev on May 31, 2018. Memorandum of Understanding on “Joint Activity and Cooperation” between the Council on State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey was signed during a visit.
F.Gurbanov said that the Council has been closely involved in the implementation of several state programs last year. 30 projects have been financed dedicated to the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the "Azerbaijan 2020: A Look into the Future" Development Concept. In this context, 48 events, 4 trainings, 2 books, 3 brochures, 14 booklets and other publications, 1 site, 1 social video and 1 play were prepared, and 5 films were shot. Various events were held in Debrecen city of Hungary, Tbilisi city of Georgia and New York city of USA in this direction.
The projects of 11 non-governmental organizations have been funded under the "Promotion of Open Government and Anti-Corruption Initiatives" within the National Action Plan for the years 2016-2018 on Open Government Initiative. 7 trainings, 13 workshops and 5 roundtables were held, 7 booklets, 1 newsletter, posters and other publications were printed and 1 social video was prepared.
In the context of six NGO projects financed under the "Initiatives on protection and enlightenment of consumer rights", 26 events were held of which 8 were trainings, 2 brochures, 4 booklets, informative posters and other publications were printed, 1 video prepared and a sociological survey on the promotion of consumer rights was conducted among tourists.
23 trainings and 35 events were held on increasing the institutional capacity of farmers, agricultural producers, creating cooperatives, raising knowledge and skills in the production and sale of agricultural products within the State Program on Development of Agricultural Cooperation in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2017-2022 years. In the framework of implemented projects 1 book, 10 booklets have been published.
The projects of 24 NGOs have been funded within the “State Program on Combating the Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors for 2013-2018”. 81 workshops and various events were organized, 19 booklets, 3 exhibitions and 2 social videos were prepared, two theater performances with the participation of young people were arranged within these projects from which 5110 people benefited.
The projects of nine NGOs have been financed within the "Action Plan for the Prevention of Non-formal Employment in the Republic of Azerbaijan". 6 e-memories on labor rights have been prepared, monitoring on the status of unemployment of 100 youths was held, 4 events, 4 trainings, 4 roundtables were arranged , 4 booklets have been printed, 2 articles have been published. The projects of 8 NGOs have been funded within the "National Action Program on Improving the Effectiveness of Human Rights and Freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan". In the context of the project 14 trainings, 11 awareness-raising events, 1 conference, 2 workshops and 4 round tables were organized, 1 booklet and 1 informative poster were prepared.
The Government-Civil Society Dialogue Platform on Promotion of Open Government, established by the initiative and organization of the Council, successfully continued its activities in 2018.
17 appeals were received by the Council's 1672 hotline for the reception of suggestions and complaints by NGOs in 2018. Each appeal was investigated and relevant measures were taken.
Leaders of the NGOs Tahmasib Novruzov, Matanat Askergizi, Javad Gasimov, Rada Abbas, Mugan Aliyev, Bakhtimshah Taghiyeva and others said that the activity of the Council in 2018 was productive and satisfactory.
