The Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an event dedicated to the results of its activities during 2009. Report on the Council’s activities in 2009 and implementation of project as well as book published about financed projects were presented during the event.
The Council’s Chairman and member of the Milli Majlis Azay Guliyev opened the event and characterized the past year as successful for NGOs. Azay Guliyev noted that all measures taken by the staff of the Secretariat of the Council for the sake of development of non-governmental organizations were reflected in the report and the book presented to the participants in this event. He pointed out that projects financed by the Council covered different thematic areas and have contributed to strengthening of the civil society in Azerbaijan. Stressing positive achievements along with shortcomings in implementation of projects, Azay Guliyev said that the Council had an uncompromising attitude towards such cases. Thus, NGOs having failed to submit reports in due time and as appropriate would be ineligible to submit new proposals for receiving grants from the Council during next two years.
Executive Director of the Secretariat Farasat Gurbanov gave extensive information on project implementations and reports presented to the Council.
NGO leaders Rauf Zeyni, Sevgim Rahmanov, Mehriban Nasibova, Eldar Huseinov, Israil Isgandarov, Tahmasib Novruzov, Dilara Mahmudova, Maharram Zulfugarli, Avaz Hasanov and others evaluated achievements, programs and projects of the Council during 2009 as positive and made their suggestions for further advancements in its activities.
