Delegation of the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by Chairman and Member of the Milli Majlis Azay Guliyev and consisting of the Council’s members – Tahir Suleymanov, Ilgar Mammadov, Jeyhun Osmanli, Gulnara Huseynova, Dilara Valiyeva, Rana Mirzazade, Sahib Mammadov, Vugar Gadirov – Secretariat’s Executive Director Farasat Gurbanov, Chief Accountant Tofig Hasanov and representative of Counterpart International Ilgar Agasiyev has returned from the study tour to Croatia. During the weeklong visit the delegation was introduced to the Croatian experience on civil society development, as one of the most advanced among the European countries, and relations were established for mutual cooperation in the future.

The delegation of the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by Chairman and member of the Milli Majlis Azay Guliyev and consisting of the Council’s members Tahir Suleymanov, Ilgar Mammadov, Jeyhun Osmanli, Gulnara Huseynova, Dilara Valiyeva, Rana Mirzazade, Sahib Mammadov, Vugar Gadirov, Secretariat’s Executive Director Farasat Gurbanov and Chief Accountant Tofig Hasanov and representative of Counterpart International Ilgar Agasiyev is on study visit in Croatia from November 1, 2009. The main objective of this week- long visit is to study Europe’s latest experience in the field of NGO activity. The program of the visit consists of the following:

Presentation of a documentary film “The Road Starting from Chanaggala” took place in the hall of the Azerbaijan Union of Cinematographers on October 28, 2009. The film was made with the organizational support of the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan Republic and financial assistance of the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Recommendations of the Council of Europe to Member-states on NGO activities have been translated into the Azerbaijani language. The public presentation of the Council of Europe brochure entitled “Recommendation CM/Rec (2007) 14 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the legal status of NGOs in Europe” took place on October 28, 2009.

Today the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan held next meeting of the Working Group on the international conference “Civil Society Development: Best Practices and New Opportunities” to be held in March, 2010.

Azay Guliyev, Chairperson of the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with the representatives of media network created within the framework of the project “Enhancing Media’s Role in the Development of the Third Sector in Azerbaijan” implemented by the Public Union of Media Development Center.

Following provisions of the Concept of State Support to NGOs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on information support (media’s highlighting NGO activity in addressing social problems and producing special media programs, radio and television broadcasts on the development of NGO sector in Azerbaijan), “www.qhtxeber.az” website of the Council has been launched.

The Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of Republic of Azerbaijan (hereinafter called “Council”) and Open Society Institute-Assistance Foundation (hereinafter called “Foundation”) (and/or hereinafter called, “Parties” when used together, and “Party” when used as separate) signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the following terms and conditions:
